LATEST UPDATE:
How to Prepare NOW for the
Coming New Tax Laws

The House Ways and Means Committee recently released its proposed “2021 Tax Reform” legislation, containing many changes that significantly impact trust and estate planning - - right now!

Here’s why. Experts on the Hill indicate that it’s likely some key, impactful provisions will go into effect on the date the bill is introduced to the House floor, or on the date of the enactment, or at the end of this year. That leaves you precious little time to properly plan for your clients.

We have turned to three of the nation’s leading tax and estate planning experts, Jonathan G. Blattmachr, Esq., Marty Shenkman J.D., CPA, MBA, and Robert S. Keebler, CPA/PFS, MST, AEP (Distinguished), CGMA for an updated presentation entitled, “2021 Tax Reform: A Deeper Dive Into Trust & Estate Planning Issues”.

During this 86-minute program, Jonathan, Marty and Bob will cover issues with emphasis on what planners should be advising RIGHT NOW, including but not limited to:

  • Gift and sales to advise clients to make right now before this Bill goes into effect
  • SWAPs before Enactment
  • Extremely urgent GRAT and IDGT Cash “Immunization” that must be done before enactment
  • Grantor Trust inclusion after Enactment
  • Taxable transactions with Grantor Trusts after Enactment
  • Why you need to fund ILITs RIGHT NOW!
  • Split Dollar Agreements for ILITs
  • Paying off IDGT notes, if possible
  • Trust income tax planning that needs to be done both before and after Enactment

Plus, they will also be covering some of these other important details included in the 2021 Tax Reform proposal, including:

  • Increasing top individual rates
  • Increasing top capital gain-rate
  • Expanding net investment income tax (to capture additional income from passive businesses)
  • Tightening 199A limitations
  • Higher surtax on individuals with large AGIs
  • Decreasing estate and gift tax exemptions
  • Changing treatment of Grantor Trusts along with changes to the estate tax valuation rules
  • Forcing taxable distributions from “MEGA IRAs” and limiting contributions once the account exceeds Threshold Amounts
  • Elimination of Roth Conversion for high earning taxpayers
  • Increasing corporate tax rates
  • And much more!
